Jeff the Chef W was purchased by mistake by either Boyd or Ross Martin back in 2002 at the Dressage with the Stars Australian Young Horse Championships auction which was strategically placed on Saturday night. 

The breeder and then owner, Mr. Health Ryan, was holding a foal auction which was not going very well for sales.  After one too many lemonades, Boyd and his father Ross were trying to help Heath in getting the prices of the horses closer to the reserved prices.  Before they knew it, they were stuck with the purchase of one gangly looking chestnut gelding by Jive Magic.  Jive Magic is a Dutch Warmblood who is by the Grand Prix Dressage sire Jazz.  Jeff’s mother was also a Dutch Warmblood by the imported stallion Salute. 

Jeff was successfully broken in as a two year old by Boyd.  At three years old, Boyd took him to his first Dressage show in northern NSW Australia.  As a five year old, Jeff was starting to show exceptional promise, placing third in the Australian Young Horse Dressage Championships in Melbourne.  In the beginning of 2007, Jeff boarded a flight from Sydney to New York, and eventually landed in his new home in Pennsylvania. 

Jeff’s Dressage career in America has been with great success, winning and placing at nearly every outing, competing up to the fourth level with Silva. 

Jeff’s FEI debut at Prix St. Georges is expected at the end of 2008.  His eventual goal is to be eligible for selection for the 2010 WEG in Kentucky.

Silva’s lifelong dream has been to compete this horse throughout his career and is interested in coming up with investors who want to get involved with her dream.
