Charla as a foal.
Charla is what I call a real classy lady!! She was bred in Germany by Californian Holsteiner breeding enthusiast, Wendy Webster. Wendy owned a couple of mares in Germany at the time, and was in love with the stallion Alcatraz. She bred Alcatraz to her Thoroughbred/Holsteiner mare Manka and out popped Charla in 2002. She was imported to California in 2003 to Wendy’s farm. After being broken in as a three year old she ended up beginning her jumping training with Justina Juvonen here in Unionville, PA.

I was lucky enough to start Charla’s eventing career in 2009, and she did not disappoint! This mare has it all: huge movement for dressage and a massive, scopey careful jump. It is unusual for a horse to have this much natural ability. All that’s left to do is train her!!

In only her fifth preliminary start she placed 3rd in the CCI *** in Bromont Canada in June 2010. She finished the cross country under the time, with plenty left in the tank.

Ron and Densey Juvonen of Unionville now own Charla. Ron and Densey are no strangers to owning unassuming eventing champions, with the mighty Remington being their other horse in the stable.
