Swan Lake Jumper Show

Yesterday I went to the Swan Lake jumper show in Western Pennsylvania with Santos, Eddie, Shamwari and Kyra and competed the horses in the 1.20m and the 1.30m jumpers. Santos - I thought he jumped really well in the 1.20. I made a mistake with my position coming out of the last combination and we had the back rail down because I sat up too early. This phase is Santos weaker phase, and I believe we are making good progress.  I feel like he is getting stronger and more careful; the Bromont Three-Day Read more...

All Six Horses Clear Cross Country at Jersey Fresh 2018

It was an outstanding day for the Windurra horses at Jersey Fresh International, with six clear rounds and two horses in the lead: On Cue leads the CCI2* and Long Island T tops the CCI3*, with Ray Price in second by fewer than three points - meaning Ludwig better pick up his toes in the show jumping tomorrow. Kyra is less than a point off the lead in the CIC3* followed closely by Steady Eddie in 3rd. Shamwari ran slow and steady around the CIC2* and is currently 16th. Here are Boyd's comments Read more...

Boyd Schooling in his new Airowear Cross Country Vest

Boyd was excited to receive his new Airowear cross-country body protector today, and wasted no time in taking it for a test ride in the ring at Windurra. Danielle Santos of Charles Owen explained the key differences that set the next generation of Airowear body protection apart: “The biggest difference is that it is detachable: the body protector and air jacket are anchored together by the interior front zip. The foundation body protector is our AirMesh2 –  a black mesh body protector, Read more...

2018 Carolina International

After three fantastic months in the Southern states it’s good to be finally back in my own bed, snuggling up to my cats Manny and Kostya. We arrived last night and while it's great to be home, this winter at Stable View was one of the best years we have spent in Aiken! Over the weekend we competed at the Carolina International. I only had two horses competing in the advanced, Long Island T and Ray Price, and I had Cortez in the one-star; I’ve only been on Cortez a couple weeks Read more...

2018 Carolina International Three-Day Event Underway

We have arrived at the Carolina International Three-Day Event in Southern Pines, NC in good order. Without question this is one of the great events of the winter circuit. I have a small group of horses entered which should make for quite a relaxing weekend. I have brought some of the Kentucky horses along for the trip to train, and to stop me getting too bored! We are slowly migrating north back to Pennsylvania.  Looking at the weather report this morning, I am glad I chose to stop Read more...

Windurra Young Event Horses Compete at Stable View Dressage

Today was the first official recognized dressage show at Stable View Farm in Aiken. I was busy working the Advanced and Intermediate Horses with US Team coach Erik Duvander, so my right hand man Mike Pendleton rode four of the young event horses in the Training and First level dressage classes. Looking at the results, I see that young Mike did a stellar job with the horses. The two Irish Sport Horses, Classic and Carl, won their tests, and the two new German horses, LuLu and Monty, made their Read more...

Kicking Off the 2018 Eventing Season at Stable View Horse Trials

We have a sensational group of horses ready to start their first event of the year right here at our winter base in Aiken at the Stable View Horse Trials. I have entered a few of the upper level horses in the Open Preliminary, just to give them a nice easy outing before their first Advanced or Intermediate in a couple of weeks at Pine Top. We got a good hit of rain here in Aiken yesterday, so conditions should be grand. Being the first event of the year, I will most likely not go for Read more...

Back to Stable View

After a tortuously cold December in Pennsylvania we’re happy to report that we’ve relocated to Stable View Farm in Aiken, South Carolina. It's a little chillier than usual right now but it beats the snow storm hitting the northeast at the moment! This year we’ve got an awesome team of staff and we’re very lucky to be in such a world class facility. Compared to our stable block at home in PA, we’re spoiled to be in this luxurious barn and we’re also very lucky to have Read more...
