2017 Stable View Oktoberfest Recap

Once again Stable View Aiken put on an outstanding event this year. After crashing at Plantation a couple of weeks ago, I decided to run all of my higher level horses here. This made for a busy weekend.
Even though it was a mission to get there, I am glad we did. The event organizers go beyond the call of duty to try to have the best footing as possible. The cross country course was continually irrigated whilst we were there, and it was awesome doing the dressage and jumping on the Attwood Equestrian Surfaces footing. On top of all of this, the event provided fantastic prize money for the owners of the horses that were in the placings.
I was really pleased with all of my group. My old mate Crackers won the main class winning $15,000.00!  Thomas (Tsetserleg) was in there with a close third, and Shamwari and Blackfoot Mystery rounded out the top six with a nice stroll around the Advanced course, designed by Mark Phillips and built by Eric Bull and crew.
The intermediates went well. Chris Turner’s Kyra was impressive; last weekend she was dashing around Central Park in New York, this weekend she shone in Aiken.  Sadly I had to scratch Cue just before the start of cross country when she threw a shoe and stepped on it.
A big thanks to Sidney, Brad and Ricardo for an awesome job grooming. Also to Mike and Anne Laver for putting me up. A big thank you to all of the owners and sponsors that back me and support me with this group of horses.
In the last two weeks I have experienced two spectacular events. Mark Bellisimo in New York and Barry Olliff in Aiken are taking our sport to a new level. I believe that we are in a new era of Eventing and entrepreneurs like Mark and Barry are sensational for the sport in America. Prize money, live feeds, awesome footing, drawing spectators and creating exciting competition are things that I thought would only happen in Europe. This is truly the promised land! I believe that the Europeans will soon be flying their top event horses to America to compete.
