Windurra Cross Country Course to Close Next Week

Next week, our schooling cross country course here at Windurra USA in Cochranville, PA will close for the winter. The last day that the course will be open for schooling will be Monday, November 09, 2020. Closing the course means that we can give the footing a break, reseed and fertilize, and give everyone the best possible schooling experience when we open again in Spring, 2021. We've got an excavator coming out to rework some of the complexes, the Hicks Brothers will Aerovate, spread mushroom Read more...

Galway Downs 2020 is a Wrap

I am very relieved to say that this big event at Galway Downs is over. After months and months of preparations, I believe we got a great performance from both horses.  I am extremely proud of how hard Luke and Ludwig tried this week in California.  This event was no joke, and the boys showed up! Yesterday was the trot up and showjumping.  Luke and Ludwig pranced out of their stalls in the morning and looked perfect at the vet inspection.  I then gave them both a light jump Read more...

Two in the Top Three after Cross Country at Galway Downs CCI4*-L

It was a stellar day of cross country for Boyd and his two horses at the Galway Downs CCI4*-L, with both horses jumping clean and finishing just under the time allowed. Luke 140 maintains the lead, and Long Island T moved up to 3rd place heading into tomorrow's show jumping phase. Boyd reports: My first horse of the day, Long Island T was absolutely brilliant today in the cross country. Obviously yesterday in the dressage was frustrating where anything that could have gone wrong went wrong. But Read more...

Luke 140 Leads After Dressage at Galway Downs CCI4*-L

Yesterday was the first phase of the Galway Downs CCI4*-L in Temecula, California where Boyd is competing Luke 140 and Long Island T, both owned by Syndicates, in the National Championship. The event kicked off with dressage yesterday, and Boyd had a mixed day in the sandbox with his two horses: Ludwig has been absolutely spot on all week in his training. He warmed up for the test beautifully yesterday.  Every movement he did in training was Read more...

Boyd’s Post Card to Mike from Sunny California

Whilst I am getting a sun tan under a palm tree in California, Mike will be in the drizzly cold at Virginia Horse Trials this weekend.  For most of these horses, this will be the grand finale to the end of their competition season.  Mike is dialed in for this one, arriving at the show a day early to get the horses settled in. We have three smart young horses in the 5 -year-old championships.  Prinz, Fair and Magic have all developed well this year. They are still youngsters, but they are Read more...

Boyd’s Chatt Hills 2020 Recap

What I thought was my biggest fear of hard ground at Chatt Hills couldn’t have been further from the truth! Yesterday afternoon a massive monsoon hit Atlanta, flooding the event. Sadly with the flooding at the event, the organizers cancelled the cross country. It was very frustrating, but it was impossible to run this phase. With good weather on Saturday, Chris Turner's Tsetserleg TSF put in a stellar test and scored 24.3 to stand second behind Marilyn Little and RF Scandalous on a 22 in the Read more...

Top Windurra Event Horses Headed to Chatt Hills 2020

This weekend is a busy one down in North Georgia. I have chosen to take a top group of horses to compete at Chattahoochee Hills. This is an event that I have not competed at in 10 years. The last time I was there was the final run on Neville before the 2010 WEG!  I have mainly picked this event due to the timing of it.  It is perfectly placed three weeks before the 4-Star Long event at Tryon. This should be a great prep run to sharpen the horses up before the big one at the end of the year. All Read more...

Windurra Dressage at GAIGs

Windurra Dressage is back from the GAIG Finals, and client Pam Murphy shared the following blog entry about the weekend: Besides the three dressage horses, Hannah Lu W, Reva (aka Rhea, owned by Christine Capano) and Bud (aka Dommelsch, my current ride while Rio recovers from his suspensory), we also took three of Boyd's top horses so they could spend some quality tune-up time with Silva. As usual it was ribbons galore for Silva: Hannah Lu W (owned with Sarah Reese) won the Championship PSG Read more...

Morven Park 2020

This weekend we are heading down to Morven Park Horse Trials in Virginia. This is always a great event that will definitely have a championship cross country course. We have an awesome group of horses heading south to compete. I am riding three of the older horses: Luke 140, Long Island T and Tsetserleg TSF. I decided to put Thomas in the Intermediate to give my body a rest between classes in the cross country. Mike will be riding the younger horses, Aria, Electra and Cat, in the Prelim as well Read more...
