Badminton Dressage

Boyd and Crackerjack, owned by Lucy Boynton, have scored 51.4 in the dressage at the 2016 Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials CCI4* (England). It’s Boyd’s first time competing at Badminton, the only four-star in the world that he had not yet contested before this trip abroad, thanks to the Land Rover/USEF Competition Grant.

Looking forward to tomorrow, Boyd said he’s more concerned with the accuracy questions on Badminton’s challenging course than the bigger fences out there.

Crackerjack is a Thoroughbred who was purpose-bred for eventing.  His trip to Badminton is an emotional one: Crackers was started in his career by Lucy’s son, Colin Davidson, who died tragically in a car accident; Boyd took on the ride following Colin’s death and has brought the horse up to the four-star level.

“He’s a great American Thoroughbred and I’ve got him plenty fit, so we’re looking forward to being competitive tomorrow,” says Boyd.
