Boyd and Bonito Second After Dressage at PFI CCI4*-S

Boyd piloted Stephen Blauner and Nancy Hathaway’s Bonito to second place (28.2) after dressage in the CCI4*-S today at the Plantation Field International Three-Day Event in Unionville, PA. He said that the German-bred gelding has come back well from an injury about a year ago and feels strong and confident.

“He’s a wild bugger, so I rode him a couple times before the test to take the edge off,” said Boyd. “He’s mostly Thoroughbred and can get really fired up. It’s a wonderful attribute on the cross country course, but day to day he’s a handful.” Boyd said he’s looking forward to getting out on the cross country course this weekend and that the footing looks to be in good shape after some heavy aggrovating.

Boyd is tied for 7th with Z, owned by the  Z Partnership, and 12th with Fernhill Singapore, owned by Tom Tierney. He is riding both horses for Phillip Dutton, whom was recently injured in a charity polo match.

Boyd also has three horses entered in the CCI3*-S, which begins at 8:30am tomorrow in the show jumping arena. Luke 140 is 7th, Barry is 11th and Carlsburg is tied for 24th.
