2019 Ocala Jockey Club International Three-Day Event Underway

Boyd is flying to Florida today for the Ocala Jockey Club International Three-Day Event. Though he's not riding, he'll be coaching and occupying a very enthusiastic cheering section. I’m grateful that Phillip Dutton is riding Long Island T for me at Ocala. I felt it was very important for Ludwig to go around a long-format event this fall to help build him up for next year, and Phillip’s schooled him a few times and done a magnificent job. He most likely won’t ride for time on cross country Read more...

Boyd in Physical Therapy After Surgery

Two weeks ago, after I'd been hobbling around like a 90-year-old man, my doctors finally figured out that I had a torn adductor muscle in my left leg. It had completely torn away from the bone, and above that was a partial tear, and there was another tear on the right leg. Dr. Meyers in Philadelphia cut me open and stitched me back together again. On the bright side it’s the perfect time of year for me to be recovering and I’ve only missed a couple of events. Each day I go in for two hours Read more...

Boyd and Silva are Guests of Honor at the Trakehner Verband

Silva and I have just returned home from a whirlwind trip to Germany. We weregraciously invited to the Trakehner Verband in Neumünster, an annual event in northern Germany where all the two-year-old Trakehner stallions come to be judged and licensed as potential breeding stallions as well as an auction for foals, unbroken young horses and riding horses. There was also outstanding entertainment, from Grand Prix dressage to a gala event on Saturday night and a trade fair to top all trade fairs. On Read more...

XC and Gallop Track Open Till Dec 1st!

Today is cold and blustery - but the forecast for the next several weeks is favorable, and the footing on the XC course is in tip top shape!  Therefor, Boyd has decided to keep the course open throughout the month of November, so make plans to keep your horses in training before you head south (or hunker down in an indoor for the winter). In December we'll be paying attention to repairs on our jumps, and our good friend Jamie Hicks will be back to aerate and spread the mushroom soil so the Read more...

Luke 140 Schooling Flying Changes

https://youtu.be/ZcDesUg9TpI I am fortunate that my wife Silva is willing to spend time schooling the event horses and fine tuning their dressage skills. At the moment Silva is working with Luke 140, a horse we syndicated earlier this year. Silva’s main goal has been teaching Luke the flying changes. Next year Luke will need to do flying changes in his dressage tests at the 4-Star level. When we purchased him earlier this year, he had not been taught them yet, but sometimes this is better because Read more...

Boyd Martin Joins Forces with Bemer!

Keeping all the horses in top form is always the priority and Windurra USA.  Boyd, Steph and the team work very hard to keep the competitive horses in excellent physical shape, and much of their focus goes into managing their pre-performance comfort and post training recovery.  That's where Bemer comes into play. For the horses, the Bemer Blanket is utilized daily by Steph and the team while the horses stand on the cross ties waiting to be tacked up, or post dressage or jump school.  Here's Read more...
