CortezFairHill1Cortez is an American-bred Sport Horse who was bred specifically for Eventing. His sire, Contango, an Oldenburg Stallion by Contender, has produced dozens of Grand Prix horses for dressage and show jumping including 2 time Olympic dressage horse Ravel. His dam, Jer’s Princess, descends from Princequillo who is known as the best long distance runner in American Thoroughbred racing history.

Cortez is 73% Thoroughbred giving him the stamina and speed for cross country and 27% Warmblood giving him extremely nice movement in the dressage. He is moving up the levels quickly and is proving to be quite competitive at his young age.

He has been in training and competition with Boyd since 2014 and has moved up the levels steadily with a very successful 2018 season at the CIC2* level, winning his final competition of the year at the Virginia Horse Trials.  Boyd will move him up to Advanced in 2019 to test this horse’s ability at the top of the sport.
