Huge Success for Team Windurra at Plantation Field International

Another whirlwind of a wet weekend at Plantation Field International has come to a close, and the entire staff at Windurra USA can celebrate a job well done.  Boyd had 6 horses running in the 1* and 2* divisions, and our resident lads (Mike, Bradley and Joe) proved that their years of hard work and training are paying off at the FEI level!

Here’s a quick wrap up of all the results:

Our big winner was Mike Pendleton aboard Stephen Blauner and Boyd Martin’s Carlsburg, who finished on their dressage score of a 28.2!  This was Mike’s and Carl’s first FEI competition and win together, and this win is well deserved as he’s had the ride on this gorgeous 6 year old imported ISH for the past 2 years.  Mike has done a wonderful job producing this young horse under Boyd’s watchful eye.  Mike also rode Sally Lofting’s young horse, Sometricksomewhere, to a solid 11th place finish on a 37.7 in the same division.

Carlsburg and Mike were foot perfect in the down pour!

Boyd took home the 3rd place prize aboard Barry, owned by Kathleen Crompton and Windurra USA, who really performed very consistently this weekend, finishing on a his dressage score of a 30.2.

Maya, owned by The Maya Group (Anne Hennessy , Tricia Boone, Gloria Callen, Nancy Hathaway), finished 19th on a 40.4 with just one rail.
Wabanaki, a bay Hanoverian owned by the Dawnland Syndicate (Kathleen Crompton, Gloria Callen, Tricia Boone and Beth Meyer) was having a solid weekend, but unfortunately lost his jockey in the stadium!

Both Joe Bowersox and Bradley Champagne knocked it out of the park in the CIC* B division this weekend as well!  Bradley and his own Wallaroo W jumped their way up to a 5th place finish on a score of 32.1, and the legendary Minotaure du Passoir (owned by Amy Lindgren) showed he’s still got plenty left in the tank, finishing 10th on a score of 34.9.  Good old Min and Joe, whose entire family was on site to cheer them on, also won the optimum time on XC and the Mature Horse Award!

Due to the incoming rain storm which drenched us on Sunday, all of the 2* jumping was moved up to Saturday.  Long Island T delivered his usual brilliant dressage test, was foot perfect in the stadium and just had a few time faults on XC to finish in 4th place in the CIC 2*A on a 30.9.  Boyd had two horses running in the CIC 2*B, both with great results.  Contessa (owned by Club Contessa) finished 3rd on a 27.6 and Ray Price (owned by the Ray Price Syndicate) finished right on her heals in 4th place on a 31.9.

Many thanks to all the owners, sponsors, volunteers and fans of our sport who turned out this weekend at PFI to battle the elements and support our home town event.  This is the 11th year that the event organizers at Plantation Field International have pulled off a weekend full of great competition and camaraderie.  Our team at Windurra USA (Steph, Sophie and all the working students) also deserves a huge pat on the back for all of their hard work and non-stop commitment, which was no easy feat post WEG.

As always you can check all the weekend’s action on our Facebook Page.

Now we turn our attention to Dressage at Devon – so keep an eye on this space for reports from Silva and her girls, coming later this week!
