Boyd and Pancho Villa at Pan Ams Training Camp

The Pancho Villa Syndicate’s Pancho Villa and I have been training hard here in Virginia at beautiful Morningside Farm along with other members of the Pan Am Games team. Yesterday we did a combined test, with the dressage test we’ll do at the Games and a testing show jumping course. Pancho’s in fine form and I feel he’s only improved since his 3rd place finish at Jersey Fresh. This morning I had a lesson with David, working on some points he noticed in yesterday’s test.

We’re looking forward to competing this weekend at Great Meadows. Lucy Boynton’s Crackerjack is also along to compete in the CCI3* this weekend, which will be his first start since Rolex and he looks eager to put in a good performance. I believe the dressage is Friday night, show jumping is Saturday night and cross-country is Sunday morning. We’ve had a fair bit of rain the past few days, so the footing should be perfect.

Everyone on the team is getting along well; it’s a great group of horses and riders and a lot of us have trained together before, so it’s like getting an old band back together.
