Plantation Field Offers A Weekend of Fun for the Whole Family
Martin and Symansky Lead the Way in Dressage
Unionville, PA –– September 20, 2018 ––Plantation Field is thrilled to offer a weekend of fun for the whole family in the picturesque Chester County countryside for the 11th Annual Plantation Field International Horse Trials (PFI). Spectators can get a front row seat to one of North America’s premier competitions all while enjoying a variety of festivities including a Country Fair, Beer Garden, Kid’s Korner and much more.
Nearly 200 competitors have traveled to Unionville, PA to contest CIC*, CIC2* and CIC3* divisions, including Olympians and top international riders. Competition began with dressage Wednesday and Thursday.
Currently topping the leaderboard are two riders who represented the United States at the FEI World Equestrian Games just last weekend. Boyd Martin (pictured © AK Dragoo Photo) currently leads the CIC2* A division with Long Island T, a 12-year-old Oldenburg/Thoroughbred (Ludwig von Bayern x Haupstsbuch Highlight, by Heraldik xx) owned by the Long Island T Syndicate, on a score of 25.7, and Lynn Symansky tops the CIC2* B division with RF Cool Play, a 10-year-old German Sporthorse (Condors Champion x Roxana, by Radscha) owned by The Donner Syndicate, on a score of 23.
Dressage continues tomorrow with the competitive CIC3* division. Two- and three-star riders will then show jump Saturday in the main arena before taking on the exciting cross country phase on Sunday.
PFI is thrilled to introduce new attractions this year that truly make this the #BestEventEver. The Plantation International Fun Run 5K will be held Saturday, Sept. 22 at 7:30 a.m. and will tour the cross country course. Walkers and dogs welcome. A $20 entry fee includes a weekend pass and t-shirt.
Saturday’s spectators can also enjoy an antique car show brought to you by the Chester County Antique Car Club. Adults can visit the Beer Garden Saturday and Sunday which includes selections from Aston Abbey Brewing Company and Locust Lane Craft Brewery. The rest of the family can enjoy the Kid’s Korner featuring games, face painting, crafts and much more all included with your admission.
Also new this year, Plantation Field has partnered with the Retired Racehorse Project to showcase the incredible athleticism and talent of the American Thoroughbred. Enjoy a demonstration Saturday by horses slated to compete in the $100,000 Thoroughbred Makeover next month, in addition to a special appearance by the 2014 America’s Most Wanted Thoroughbred, Icabad Crane. The American Thoroughbred Showcase will take place Saturday, September 22, at noon in the main arena.
On Sunday, watch racing legends face off in the Real Rider Cup where teams of Thoroughbred owners, trainers, jockeys and racing analysts take on a show jumping course to determine who the “real riders” are. This can’t miss event will be held Sunday, September 23, at noon in the main arena.
“From the beginning, we envisioned this as a true community event with a world class competition at its core. We are proud that it has developed into a fun weekend with so many activities that draw people from all over,” said PFI Organizer Amy Borun. “We are especially excited about our support of the Retired Racehorse project and putting a spotlight on the Thoroughbred horse which is such an important part of the history of Chester County.”
