Red Hills Video

We didn’t manage to catch all the horses on video, but here’s a little sampling from show jumping at Red Hills on Sunday:

Red Hills 2019 Wrapup

I'm slowly building up the upper-level horses for their spring goals: some of the horses are heading to Kentucky, Jersey Fresh and on to Bromont, and we used Red Hills in Tallahassee, Florida as one of their preparation events to get them humming along. KYRA - 1st, ADVANCED Christine Turner's feisty, redheaded mare was absolutely brilliant this weekend; she's had a busy schedule with Bruce's Field last weekend and to come out and blitz the competition this weekend was a satisfying victory. Phillip Schooling Boyd’s Horses at New Stable View XC Course

https://youtu.be/DBi3bho7G2M My cross country coach Phillip Dutton took Ray Price and Long Island T out for a school at the new Boyd Martin/ETB Equine Construction Schooling Cross Country Course at Stable View yesterday, and it was awesome. Phillip really honed in on their rideability and practiced some of the jumping and turning exercises that these horses will encounter at the advanced level of competition. The jumped a lot of corners, narrows and coffins, and both horses finished the session Read more...

Starting the Young Horses Right

https://youtu.be/oIq7bRNjrTg By the first of November all of the major events are done and dusted and I give the bulk of the upper level horses a good month’s vacation. This is a well-deserved rest from the hard, focused training and relentless competition schedule that starts in February. This also means a little less work at the farm since the upper level horses are so time-consuming, so we also use this time to give our staff a holiday intermittently This is also a good time to break in Read more...

Swan Lake Jumper Show

Yesterday I went to the Swan Lake jumper show in Western Pennsylvania with Santos, Eddie, Shamwari and Kyra and competed the horses in the 1.20m and the 1.30m jumpers. Santos - I thought he jumped really well in the 1.20. I made a mistake with my position coming out of the last combination and we had the back rail down because I sat up too early. This phase is Santos weaker phase, and I believe we are making good progress.  I feel like he is getting stronger and more careful; the Bromont Three-Day Read more...
