Windurra Eventers Migrating North

The Windurra Eventing crew is back home in Pennsylvania and happy to dig in to work here on the farm. In hindsight we were very lucky that we decided to enter so many horses at the Pine Top Spring Horse Trials in Georgia last weekend. Pine Top is one of my favorite events, it’s got a beautiful cross country course: good footing, open, galloping courses and a well-designed track. Between Mike, me and a large portion of our staff we ran most of  the horses our barn. A few of the mature horses Read more...

Silva’s Trip South: Ten Days in Aiken

The boys and I are just back from ten days in Aiken where we really enjoyed some time with Boyd, and I was able to compete in a couple of shows. We took our babysitter Susannah and her son Bobby, and I had three horses, so the truck was full and the trailer was nearly full for our journey south. It was fun to see Boyd, obviously since the boys and I hadn’t seen him for awhile! We got there Friday and I showed that Sunday in the Grand Prix at Stable View. Rosa was really good and it was fun, Read more...

Silva Based at True Prospect Farm for Winter

Silva likes to joke that she is moving south for the winter - about three miles south, to be exact. With Nox in school five days a week now, it is more practical to keep the dressage horses home in Pennsylvania, and with icy winter weather in the forecast, the indoor arena at Phillip and Evie Dutton's True Prospect Farm makes it the ideal winter base. "The horses traveled really well on the big trip south," joked Silva as she longed a frisky Rosa Cha W. "They're all settled in and happy as Read more...

Luke 140 Schooling Flying Changes

https://youtu.be/ZcDesUg9TpI I am fortunate that my wife Silva is willing to spend time schooling the event horses and fine tuning their dressage skills. At the moment Silva is working with Luke 140, a horse we syndicated earlier this year. Silva’s main goal has been teaching Luke the flying changes. Next year Luke will need to do flying changes in his dressage tests at the 4-Star level. When we purchased him earlier this year, he had not been taught them yet, but sometimes this is better because Read more...

Windurra Eventers at Dressage at Bruce’s Field

This weekend Mike and I took a few of the event horses over to Bruce's Field, here in Aiken, for the dressage show. It was fun trying to mix it up with the fancy dressage horses and it was an especially good experience for the Kyra and Cortez, who will be competing in the LiftMaster Eventing Grand Prix at Bruce's Field in a couple of weeks. Thanks to Silva’s owner Joan Fenton-White, who took photos of some of the horses. Results can be found at Foxvillage.com (links below) RESULTS BOYD RESULTS Read more...

Another Winning Weekend at Dressage at Stable View

Hannah Lu, owned by Sarah Reese and Joan White, was great this weekend in the dressage show at Stable View. I just kind of changed the way I ride her, warming up with a light seat and keeping things a little loose and that works really well for her, since she tends to be a bit of a tight horse. She was really good, she placed 2nd to Shawna Harding in the PSG with 69% and won the I-1 on Sunday with 68% which was really good for her. Electric, owned by George and Julia Strawbridge and Nancy Read more...

Rosa Cha W to Return to Grand Prix Competition

At the end of 2017, just before Dressage at Devon, my Grand Prix mare Rosa Cha W foundered as a result of contracting Potomac Horse Fever. Rosa had been vaccinated against the disease, and the founder diagnosis was devastating. We thought that she might never compete again. We bred Rosa, who is now 13 years old, in Australia. She is an Oldenburg by Heath Ryan’s stallion Regardez Moi, out of Jasmine W (by Richmeed Medallion), and she is like part of our family. Rosa took me to my first Nations Read more...

Update from Silva: Three Shows in Aiken

I have some catching up to do on the blog, so I will talk about three shows here, beginning with Dressage at the Park, held at Bruce’s Field here in Aiken.

I’m so excited that I have two newly minted FEI horses, Hannah Lu W, owned by Joan Fenton White and Sara Reese, and my own Jada W. Both of these homebred mares just recently moved up to the FEI levels, competing in the PSG here in Aiken, South Carolina.

Jada won the PSG; Hannah was a little hot in the canter and made some green Read more...

Windurra Young Event Horses Compete at Stable View Dressage

Today was the first official recognized dressage show at Stable View Farm in Aiken. I was busy working the Advanced and Intermediate Horses with US Team coach Erik Duvander, so my right hand man Mike Pendleton rode four of the young event horses in the Training and First level dressage classes.

Looking at the results, I see that young Mike did a stellar job with the horses. The two Irish Sport Horses, Classic and Carl, won their tests, and the two new German horses, LuLu and Monty, made their Read more...
