Boyd Martin: Reflections on Team USA Training Camp in Aachen

The last two weeks have been fantastic here in Germany as the US Eventing Team has undergone a training camp during Pre-Export Quarantine at the grounds where the CHIO Aachen is held each year. There aren’t many times in my life I can completely focus on a couple of horses and get dialed in on every aspect of their training performance. The time in Aachen has been invaluable for really fine tuning things with both Tsetserleg TSF and On Cue, who are both owned by the fabulous Turner family. I Read more...

On Cue Leads the U.S. Contingent at the 2021 #LRK3DE

Today was a seriously tough day of cross country that saw dreams dashed for numerous horse and rider combinations at the Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event, and Boyd was no exception. But there is still a bright light for Team Windurra: at the end of the day, On Cue rose above the rest to stand second overall, and in the top placing out of U.S. horses and riders in the CCI5*-L going into tomorrow's show jumping phase. Here is how cross country played out: Long Island T Ludwig started off Read more...

Boyd and Silva to Compete at Fair Hill H.T This Weekend

The Pennsylvania spring is here and the conditions are absolutely perfect for eventing. This weekend we are competing the upper level horses at the Fair Hill Horse Trials in nearby Elkton, Maryland.   It will be an unusual Fair Hill for our family, as it is very rare that both Silva and I are competing at the same event. Silva has very kindly volunteered to ride my four Kentucky entries: Thomas, Cue, Ludwig and Luke, in the dressage at Fair Hill. Silva will compete the horses through the Read more...

Boyd Martin Eventing Videos: USEF High Performance Training Session in Ocala

Boyd spent the past several days in Ocala, Florida at a USEF Elite High Performance training session: "I had a really productive four days training with the USEF High Performance coaches in Ocala, FL. I took four of the advanced horses: Thomas (Tsetserleg), Luke (Luke 140), Ludwig (Long Island T) and Cue (On Cue). Below are some videos of me jumping with Peter Wylde and doing some dressage with David O’Connor.  I feel like I really benefited from the work we put in over the past couple of days. Read more...

Windurra Eventing Ride Times for Plantation Field

This weekend I am back in action at the Plantation Field International Three-Day Event. After 41 years I have decided to change my my approach and to take it slow this weekend. It has been eight weeks since my last surgery, and I plan to ride just two horses in the three-star. Long Island T (Ludwig) and On Cue should be the perfect duo to give me a nice, easy stroll around the beautiful cross-country course built by www.etbjump.com at Plantation Field. Mike has a rock star group of horses this Read more...

Otis Barbotiere to Semi-Retire at Windurra USA

Earlier this year, Tricia Boone called me and said that my 2012 Olympic partner Otis Barbotiere wasn’t doing too much at his new home in Kentucky.  He had a great career in the jumpers with both Catie and Ali Boone, but was ready for retirement. Tricia said that she was looking for a home for the old boy, and I jumped at the chance to take him back and give him a home at Windurra. When he arrived at the farm, I must say that he looked amazing. The Boone family had Otis in magnificent condition. Read more...

Windurra Eventers Migrating North

The Windurra Eventing crew is back home in Pennsylvania and happy to dig in to work here on the farm. In hindsight we were very lucky that we decided to enter so many horses at the Pine Top Spring Horse Trials in Georgia last weekend. Pine Top is one of my favorite events, it’s got a beautiful cross country course: good footing, open, galloping courses and a well-designed track. Between Mike, me and a large portion of our staff we ran most of  the horses our barn. A few of the mature horses Read more...

Silva’s Trip South: Ten Days in Aiken

The boys and I are just back from ten days in Aiken where we really enjoyed some time with Boyd, and I was able to compete in a couple of shows. We took our babysitter Susannah and her son Bobby, and I had three horses, so the truck was full and the trailer was nearly full for our journey south. It was fun to see Boyd, obviously since the boys and I hadn’t seen him for awhile! We got there Friday and I showed that Sunday in the Grand Prix at Stable View. Rosa was really good and it was fun, Read more...
