On Cue Leads the U.S. Contingent at the 2021 #LRK3DE

Today was a seriously tough day of cross country that saw dreams dashed for numerous horse and rider combinations at the Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event, and Boyd was no exception. But there is still a bright light for Team Windurra: at the end of the day, On Cue rose above the rest to stand second overall, and in the top placing out of U.S. horses and riders in the CCI5*-L going into tomorrow's show jumping phase. Here is how cross country played out: Long Island T Ludwig started off Read more...

Silva Martin’s Thursday Dressage Recap from LRK3DE 2021

Silva is in Kentucky coaching Boyd and she checked in to give a recap of his two rides today at the 2021 Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event Presented by Mars Equestrian: Luke 140 Boyd’s first ride today was Luke 140 in the CCI4*-S. First of all, the weather is very unlike April in Kentucky, it’s very cold, and for a fit horse that’s not ideal! All week Luke has looked fabulous, and he looked a million bucks in the warm-up, he’s a really quality horse. But once he was in the stadium, Read more...

Boyd’s 2020 Wellington Showcase Recap

We have arrived home well after a great week of training and competition in Wellington, Florida. To be honest, I am little disappointed with our result in the Wellington Showcase, as I really thought Ludwig was set up to be very competitive.  By saying that, there were a lot a positives to take home from the event and the week's training.   On Wednesday, Ludwig underwent the USEF Elite Squad vet check. This took a couple of hours, and consisted of X-rays, ultrasounds, flexion tests and trot-ups. Read more...

Red Hills 2019 Wrapup

I'm slowly building up the upper-level horses for their spring goals: some of the horses are heading to Kentucky, Jersey Fresh and on to Bromont, and we used Red Hills in Tallahassee, Florida as one of their preparation events to get them humming along. KYRA - 1st, ADVANCED Christine Turner's feisty, redheaded mare was absolutely brilliant this weekend; she's had a busy schedule with Bruce's Field last weekend and to come out and blitz the competition this weekend was a satisfying victory. Long Island T Joins Boyd’s String of Upper Level Horses!

Boyd recently acquired the multi-talented Long Island T from good mate, Peter Barry. "Ludwig" is a powerful, German bred gelding who is remarkable in the dressage and quite keen to the jumps. Boyd is taking his time to adjust his ride on Ludwig, who is quite a different ride from his usual string of upper level horses. Read more...
