Successful Weekend for Team Windurra!

First off, congratulations to Boyd and Luke 140 on winning the Jersey Fresh CCI4*-L, and huge congratulations to the Luke Syndicate, who support this phenomenal horse. He is a very exciting horse with a big future ahead of him, and clearly has a good foundation due to his first-class dressage training! The dressage horses also did great this weekend at the dressage show at Morven Park in Virginia. Pam Murphy knocked it out of the Park with her two horses Rosa and Rio. Rio won fourth Read more...

Silva’s Friday Dressage Wrap Up from #LRK3DE2021

Silva finished up her Kentucky coaching gig by helping Boyd pilot both of his remaining CCI5*-L horses into the top ten at the 2021 Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event Presented by Mars Equestrian. On Cue On Cue is probably the greenest one out of the five-star horses because she hasn’t done any of the big competitions yet. I thought she was awesome, I’ve never seen her this good! She’s a very good mover, so that helps, and she was very focused and kept her cool. She only had a couple Read more...

Silva Martin’s Thursday Dressage Recap from LRK3DE 2021

Silva is in Kentucky coaching Boyd and she checked in to give a recap of his two rides today at the 2021 Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event Presented by Mars Equestrian: Luke 140 Boyd’s first ride today was Luke 140 in the CCI4*-S. First of all, the weather is very unlike April in Kentucky, it’s very cold, and for a fit horse that’s not ideal! All week Luke has looked fabulous, and he looked a million bucks in the warm-up, he’s a really quality horse. But once he was in the stadium, Read more...

The August 2020 Update: It Takes A Village at Windurra USA

I’ve obviously had a frustrating year this year, with a couple of surgeries on my hips and groin muscle. My body has had years and years of wear and tear and I had to get a bit of repair work: I had scar tissue that had calcified and turned into bone that they had to extract, and while they had me opened up they shaved off some bone spurs as well. Basically it’s been like a sharp sword tearing the muscle for the past five years and I just kept working through the pain. I have been doing consistent Read more...

Silva’s Trip South: Ten Days in Aiken

The boys and I are just back from ten days in Aiken where we really enjoyed some time with Boyd, and I was able to compete in a couple of shows. We took our babysitter Susannah and her son Bobby, and I had three horses, so the truck was full and the trailer was nearly full for our journey south. It was fun to see Boyd, obviously since the boys and I hadn’t seen him for awhile! We got there Friday and I showed that Sunday in the Grand Prix at Stable View. Rosa was really good and it was fun, Read more...

Silva Based at True Prospect Farm for Winter

Silva likes to joke that she is moving south for the winter - about three miles south, to be exact. With Nox in school five days a week now, it is more practical to keep the dressage horses home in Pennsylvania, and with icy winter weather in the forecast, the indoor arena at Phillip and Evie Dutton's True Prospect Farm makes it the ideal winter base. "The horses traveled really well on the big trip south," joked Silva as she longed a frisky Rosa Cha W. "They're all settled in and happy as Read more...

Luke 140 Schooling Flying Changes

https://youtu.be/ZcDesUg9TpI I am fortunate that my wife Silva is willing to spend time schooling the event horses and fine tuning their dressage skills. At the moment Silva is working with Luke 140, a horse we syndicated earlier this year. Silva’s main goal has been teaching Luke the flying changes. Next year Luke will need to do flying changes in his dressage tests at the 4-Star level. When we purchased him earlier this year, he had not been taught them yet, but sometimes this is better because Read more...

Rosa’s Comeback and the Young Horses Excel at Dressage at Devon 2019

It was an exceptional week for Silva and her team at Dressage at Devon.  Not only did Silva experience two significant wins on her exceptional mare, Rosa Cha W, but she also had a fantastic show with two young prospects and an imported FEI talent that she began training last March.  4 Year Old Materiale Horses Let's start with the youngsters in the 4 year old Materiale class.  Silva rode Mystic He, a 4 yr old gelding by High Scope, who was bred by the infamous Mary Hazzard.  Boyd and Silva Read more...

Hylofit Instrumental in Upping Windurra’s Fitness Game!

There's been quite a bit of buzz recently within the equestrian community regarding an emerging fitness technology company called Hylofit.  As with all of our sponsorship relationships at Windurra USA, we're very careful to test out products to ensure that we can stand behind that company and that their products bring value to our horses and training program.  With that in mind, we wanted to share the backstory of how Boyd and Silva came to be introduced to this Hylofit. Read more...

Tsetserleg Waltzes Into the Top 3 After Dressage!

This morning, when asking Silva about Boyd’s and Thomas’ preparation for this year’s test, she said, “I don’t want to jinx it, but we may have a top 3 finish.” Clearly Silva is clairvoyant…..or perhaps she and Boyd have been working pretty hard towards today’s score of a 27.9, which was good enough a press conference appearance as the scoring top American! Since Boyd’s dressage test was near the end of the day, we also had the opportunity to visit with a few of our sponsors in Read more...
