Boyd Schooling in his new Airowear Cross Country Vest

Boyd was excited to receive his new Airowear cross-country body protector today, and wasted no time in taking it for a test ride in the ring at Windurra. Danielle Santos of Charles Owen explained the key differences that set the next generation of Airowear body protection apart: “The biggest difference is that it is detachable: the body protector and air jacket are anchored together by the interior front zip. The foundation body protector is our AirMesh2 –  a black mesh body protector, Read more...

2018 Carolina International

After three fantastic months in the Southern states it’s good to be finally back in my own bed, snuggling up to my cats Manny and Kostya. We arrived last night and while it's great to be home, this winter at Stable View was one of the best years we have spent in Aiken! Over the weekend we competed at the Carolina International. I only had two horses competing in the advanced, Long Island T and Ray Price, and I had Cortez in the one-star; I’ve only been on Cortez a couple weeks Read more...

2018 Carolina International Three-Day Event Underway

We have arrived at the Carolina International Three-Day Event in Southern Pines, NC in good order. Without question this is one of the great events of the winter circuit. I have a small group of horses entered which should make for quite a relaxing weekend. I have brought some of the Kentucky horses along for the trip to train, and to stop me getting too bored! We are slowly migrating north back to Pennsylvania.  Looking at the weather report this morning, I am glad I chose to stop Read more...

Update from Silva: Three Shows in Aiken

I have some catching up to do on the blog, so I will talk about three shows here, beginning with Dressage at the Park, held at Bruce’s Field here in Aiken. I’m so excited that I have two newly minted FEI horses, Hannah Lu W, owned by Joan Fenton White and Sara Reese, and my own Jada W. Both of these homebred mares just recently moved up to the FEI levels, competing in the PSG here in Aiken, South Carolina. Jada won the PSG; Hannah was a little hot in the canter and made some green Read more...

Back to Stable View

After a tortuously cold December in Pennsylvania we’re happy to report that we’ve relocated to Stable View Farm in Aiken, South Carolina. It's a little chillier than usual right now but it beats the snow storm hitting the northeast at the moment! This year we’ve got an awesome team of staff and we’re very lucky to be in such a world class facility. Compared to our stable block at home in PA, we’re spoiled to be in this luxurious barn and we’re also very lucky to have Read more...

All Six Horses Clear Around Jersey Fresh Cross Country

While a massive rainstorm washed through New Jersey today, saturating the ground and flooding roads, Boyd was able to pilot all six horses clear around the cross country course at the Jersey Fresh International Three-Day Event at the Horse Park of New Jersey in Allentown. Christine Turner's Kyra and Gloria Callen and Nancy Hathaway's Tura Lura were first out in the CCI2* and each added just two times fault, with Kyra currently in 2nd and Tura Lura sitting 5th heading into tomorrow's show jumping. Only Read more...

2016 Richland Park Horse Trials

The Windurra horses had a successful trip to Michigan to compete at the Richland Park CIC2* and CIC3*. It was also heartwarming to see all the great tributes to Philippa Humphreys, who lived and trained in Michigan. We will be heading south tomorrow to compete at the American Eventing Championships at the Tryon International Equestrian Center in North Carolina. CIC3*: 5th - Steady Eddie, owned by George and Gretchen Wintersteen, Denise Lahey and Pierre Colin, Boyd and Silva Martin [Steady Read more...

2016 Red Hills CIC Recap

It was my first time at Red Hills in two years and I must say the event has changed considerably. The venue has improved with dressage and show jumping rings and the course designer has made a much more flowing course. With the topography it's still hard to good rhythm going throughout the course, but all of my horses managed to go clear around Mike E-S's cross country course. I decided to take my more "up and coming" greener horses down there to expose them to this sort of competition - I knew there Read more...
