Tryon International Underway

Windurra is off to a great start at the Mars Tryon International Three-Day Event. The heavens were open all night and it kept pelting down with rain all morning, but Tryon is a solid venue, with modern stabling and sensational all weather footing, so everyone was able to carry on with the competition. Boyd had three horses competing in the dressage yesterday:

Blackfoot Mystery was second to go in the premier class, the CCI4L.  He put in a fantastic test.  I haven’t ridden him at this level for many years and I nearly forgot how awesome he is under pressure. He scored a 28 which was very good considering how early he went.  He was brilliant throughout the test, not making any mistakes.

Contessa, owned by Club Contessa, was also a dream today in the dressage. She is was very relaxed and settled through the test. She is a real competitor and tries her heart out. She came up with a very good score of 25, which left her in 2nd place in the CCI3L. Contessa is very seasoned at this level now.

On Cue, owned by Chris Turner, was the last to go out of my bunch today. The test really suited her, with three medium trots where she could really show off. I was very impressed with her work as she hasn’t been out for a while. She finished with a a score of 27 in 3rd place.  Cue is very flamboyant in her work and is really fun to ride.

Today, Thomas has his turn in the sand box.
