Two Top 10 Finishes at Liftmaster’s Grand-Prix of Eventing at Aiken Field!

The Liftmaster’s Grand-Prix of Eventing at Aiken has just wrapped up, and it was a thrilling weekend of competition for many of the country’s top eventing riders.  Although the atmosphere was very different this year without the regular spectators, the event organizers did a fantastic job welcoming riders, owners and sponsors to Aiken for a weekend of top notch horse sport!

The stadium course, designed by Michel Vallancort was quite imposing and the XC courses gave competitors the perfect opportunity to ride a technical and twisting track set by Captain Mark Phillips.  In the end, Tamie Smith and Mai Baum gutted it out for the win, with Liz Halliday-Sharp taking home 3 of the top 5 spots.  Boyd was quite pleased with Long Island T (owned by the Long Island T Syndicate), who put in a cracking round to finish 4th on a 29.5 and Luke 140 (owned by the Luke 140 Syndicate) also had an impressive weekend, finishing 9th on a 31.5.  Tsetserleg (owned by Christine Turner) was early out of course, putting in a clear and handy round, but finished outside of the ribbons due to a few rails from yesterday’s stadium round.  This weekend was the perfect launching pad for the lead up to the Land Rover Kentucky 3 Day Event for all 3 of these horses.

The event was also a wonderful opportunity to gather with a small group of owners who did come out to support the Boyd and the horses.  Boyd is thankful to his ownership groups, and the following sponsors:  Stubben NA, Smartpak, Purina Horse Feeds, Majyk Equipe, Bemer Horse Set, Charles Owen, Ariat, Attwood Equestrian Services and Cowboy Magic!  Click on the link below for Boyd’s final commentary on the weekend – and you can always find more photos and videos on all of our social media platforms @boydmartineventing !
