Our second show of the season was super, with Silva and Rosa Cha W taking blue ribbons in both Intermediate II A (66.7%) and Intermediate B (72.6%). While first place is the norm for Silva and Rosa, these wins were especially impressive given that this was Rosa’s first time out at Intermediate II. The judge’s comment summed it up perfectly: “lovely horse – elegant”.

Devon Seery, working student/riding apprentice of Silva, also had an excellent show. Sadly Duvent had a crack in his hoof and was a bit too sore to compete but happily Bonnie Stedt let Devon take Zoran, (AKA Zoom), to the show and they had a successful weekend, winning Third Level Test 3 (70%).

Windurra working student Jessie Crosby rode Joan White’s horse, Justine, in Training Level Test Level 2 and 3 and scored 63% and 65% to place fourth and third, respectively. It was great fun to have Joan with us as her dry sense of humor and spectacular photography always bring mostly smiles – sometimes groans!

Amy Heron and CeCe had a strong finish in First Level Test 3 and while the score disappointed Amy, the ride was much improved and the judge characterized them as an attractive team with lots of potential. It was also a treat to have Amy’s mom, Pat, at the show to cheer us all on.

Rio and I were happy with a second place (70%) in First Test 2. Thankfully, there was no wind this time so we had much better rides than we had in April!

But truthfully, the best part about going to Morven shows is that we get to stay with Melinda Walton and Larry Smith, whose home in Leesburg, VA is spectacular and where we are treated to the best, most generous hospitality ever. Besides being great hosts, Larry and Melinda breed unbelievably talented dressage horses. We were able to bring back two of their young horses, Demi and Bruiser, who are now back in training with Silva. Both are for sale and you can learn all about these two very special young horses at https://www.boydandsilvamartin.com/horse-type/dressage-sales-horses/
