USA Triumphs at 2017 Great Meadow Nations Cup!

It was a stellar weekend in The Plains Virginia at the Great Meadow International FEI Nations Cup.  Once again it was a great battle to the end between the US and our northern friends, with our home country taking home the Blue, followed by Canada and then England.

Eddie started the weekend with a bit of tension in the dressage, but showed pure class in the show jumping and over a big XC track, which was a bump up in difficulty from last year’s course.  Bragging rights go to The Eagle, who was the only horse to run double clear in stadium and XC and finish on his dressage score this weekend!

There were some last minute changes to Team USA, which included the call up for Eddie and also for Lynn Symansky and Donner.   Team USA truly pulled together and gutted it out on our home turf, taking the top 3 spots on the podium.  We are so happy for Tim and Nina Gardiner who are pillars in our community and who must be ecstatic to see Jennie and Cambalda clinch the win this weekend.

We are even more thrilled for our long time friends and owners of Eddie – Denise Lahey and Pierre Colin, as well as George and Gretchen Wintersteen, who were able to travel this weekend to cheer on team USA.  It’s gratifying at the end of a big competition to share in their horses’ continued success!

Our hats off to the event organizers for another well run event and we’re thankful that the Nations Cup, which has been a regular competition in Europe, has been here in Virginia for the past 3 years.  Many thanks go to all of our owners, sponsors and spectators for cheering on team USA this past weekend at Great Meadow!  Now it’s time to pack up and haul home.
