USEA Year-End Awards

Luke 140 at Galway Downs

After a challenging year rehabbing from various injuries, Boyd got back in the saddle to win the two biggest events of the year at Galway Downs (CA) and the Tryon International (NC). Ultimately he is the 2020 USEA Intermediate and Advanced Adult Rider Champion, and Luke 140, owned by the Luke 140 Syndicate, is the USEA Horse of the Year and Advanced Horse Champion!

Boyd said, “Obviously it was a very unique year of eventing. All in all we had many interruptions through Covid and surgeries. I was more focused on individual horses’ performances rather than how many events I scored points in this year. I’m most proud of the performances of Long Island T, Luke 140, Tsetserleg, On Cue and Blackfoot Mystery at Galway and Tryon at the end of the year. For me these are the two events I was really focused on, and it was rewarding to win them both.

Beyond that I have some brilliant horses coming up at prelim and intermediate. I feel like I’ve got a strong squadron of horses in the pipeline and 2021 should be an exciting year.

I’d like to say a big thanks to all the people around me who keep the horses going: especially Silva in the dressage training and taking the top horses to dressage competitions, Phillip for competing my top horses throughout the year, and my group of staff at home who have worked hard improving the horses. Great results are impossible without this team effort.”

The 2020 Awards Ceremony will be held virtually on January 8, 2021 at 6:30pm EST.
