Ying Yang Yo, otherwise known as “Thomas”, had a hard start in life. He was born in outback Australia in a desolate town called Dubbo. He was son to a race horse named ‘Mr Investor’. Mr Investor, is by the New Zealand stallion ‘Sir Tristam’ whom has bred many amazing jumping horses in New Zealand and Australia.

Thomas failed miserably as a race horse, and ended up with Ronnie Easy. Ronnie is among Australia’s most famous show jumping riders and trainers. Ronnie is from the old school, getting most of his horses from the meat works. He got a load of horses destined for the can, chased them down a shoot where at the end laid a 4ft single rail. Thomas cleared it with ease. He had natural talent. Boyd’s good mate Kevin bought the horse from Ronnie, schooled him a few times and then sold him to Boyd.

Ying Yang Yo Dressage at RolexThomas loved eventing from the word go, winning and placing in nearly everything he competed in. In 2004, the Binger won the CCI** at Melbourne, and then 12 months later came second in the CCI*** at Melbourne again. After that, he was put on a plane destined to America. In 2006 he came 11th in the Rolex Kentucky CCI**** and was short listed for the World Equestrian Games in Aachen. In 2007 he place 2nd at the CCI *** Fair Hill international three day event.

At the end of 2007, Thomas was lucky enough to gain a new part owner in Faye Woolf. Faye’s daughter Eliza now is involved in the training and care of this sweet horse.

In 2011 Thomas made one of the all time great eventing comebacks. After 2 years of cruising around Novice with Eliza Woolf, he stepped straight back into the limelight by coming out of retirement & blitzing a quality field at the Fair Hill CCI 3*!
